Downriver Real Estate Classes – Become a Michigan Real Estate Agent

You have a lot of options when it comes to Michigan real estate classes. In fact, the Michigan Department of Regulatory Affairs, (LARA), has twenty-two pages of approved vendors and courses. If you’re anything like I was when researching how to become a real estate agent in Michigan, then you might feel lost about finding a Downriver real estate class.

I had a few questions I wondered:

  • Is this course approved by LARA and will it allow me to take the exam?
  • Will this course actually help me pass the exam or is there a better course?

This article is intended to clarify some of those questions so you can find the Downriver real estate class that is BEST for you and your style of learning, while being approved by LARA to meet the pre-licensure requirements laid out by the state of Michigan.

Downriver Real Estate Classes Requirements

Before you can take your real estate exam, you are required to complete, at a minimum, 40 hours of a pre-licensure course that is approved by LARA.

In this course, you will learn topics property ownership, land use control and regulations, valuation and market analysis, financing, laws of agency, mandated disclosures, contracts, practice of real estate, real estate calculations, duties and powers of the Department and Board, statutory requirements governing licensee activities, transferring property, specialty areas, and various State topics.

Don’t worry about having a law degree or needing to be able to do complex financial accounting. The course or test doesn’t require any of those skills.

If you’re compelled, you can search all of LARA’s approved courses on their website.

However, we have partnered with Real Estate Express to provide on-demand real estate pre-licensure class for those who are looking to obtain their Michigan real estate license. This 40 hour pre-licensing course is designed to teach you all of the basic fundamentals necessary to pass the Michigan real estate exam for salespersons.

With that said, here are the top two Downriver real estate schools we recommend.

Real Estate Express – Online

The biggest advantage to Real Estate Express is that it’s online. This allows for greater flexibility and taking the course on your schedule.

This self-paced course allows students to move at the speed they are comfortable with. Unlike traditional, in-class courses, you can learn without getting left behind. Plus, with the flexibility, you can study in the evenings and get your license without quitting your job.

You might be thinking, well what if I need further help or guidance? That’s okay, too, because Real Estate Express offers different packages. If you need more help, you can select one of their more comprehensive real estate courses which includes live support help and an instructor.

Since this course is delivered online, it’s often cheaper than a traditional in-class course. And with our partnership, you can get an even better rate on the courses.

Michigan Real Estate School – Offline, Offline, or Live Webinar

Some people just love learning offline, we get it. Michigan Real Estate school offers real estate classes in Downriver and are a great alternative to the online format.

The hands-on learning can make a difference for many people. Through this company, classes are offered online, through a live webinar, or in-person. This company conducts classes all over the state so it may require traveling or you will have to wait until the host a class in your area.

This is a great option if you’re able to make the commitment. If you’re like many of us, though, you might already have a job.

If you go this route, be sure to register for the classroom real estate class or live webinar. If you plan to go online, I recommend sticking with Real Estate Express.

Update: Since the Covid-pandemic, we aren’t sure how Michigan Real Estate School has been affected and how they are responding to the Covid crisis. For this reason, your experience is likely to be very different from what many of our agents experienced who went through Michigan Real Estate School. Please be sure to check with an official at the company.

Conclusion

There are other Michigan real estate schools available but they will often require traveling to somewhere else in the state. For Downriver real estate classes, we recommend signing up for one of the packages with Real Estate Express. The increased flexibility, often lower cost, and self-pace makes this a hands down winner for many of our Century 21 real estate agents.
